South Carolina-based service provider Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) has implemented Equinox Information Systems'' Protector, the company's flagship fraud-management system. Horry also has upgraded to the latest version of Equinox's mediation and analytics platform, TeleLink.

HTC, an Equinox customer for eight years, originally picked TeleLink to automate its usage record transmission process and has now upgraded to TeleLink 5. Based on HTC’s previous experience with Equinox’s software solutions, the upgrade to TeleLink 5 was followed closely by the selection of Protector.

“Depth of experience, attention to detail, and quality support are key reasons why HTC continues to work with Equinox on software development projects," saidc Jim Forbes, director of information services at HTC. “Protector allows us to now take a proactive approach in fraud detection. With the many new features in TeleLink, HTC has even more sophisticated tools for managing our usage data and analyzing network traffic and cost."

TeleLink is Equinox’s mediation and revenue assurance platform that integrates with all switch types, prepares usage and call data for use by downstream operational support systems (OSS), and monitors network performance and activity in detail. By enriching and converting usage records, Equniox says TeleLink also provides powerful reporting capabilities. Protector provides real-time fraud protection by identifying suspicious and/or fraudulent activity. It does so by monitoring usage records for instances in which actual usage varies from expected usage as defined by a number of configurable metrics.

It's been quite a week for Equinox, which is announcing its third deal since Feb. 2.
