Agilent Technologies Inc, and AT4 wireless have signed a definitive agreement for Agilent to acquire the assets of AT4 wireless’ Test Systems business.

Privately held AT4 wireless is based in Malaga, Spain. Its Test Systems business provides testing services and solutions for the wireless communications industry, including certification testing activities with advanced system designs and architectures. These test platforms are widely used by test houses and chipset manufacturers.

The Test Systems business includes130 employees in Malaga, who will transfer to Agilent when the acquisition is final, which is expected to be early August. AT4 wireless has a network of testing laboratories offering services for carrier device acceptance, performance, conformance, regulatory, field, functional and interoperability testing as well as worldwide compliance and type approval consulting in over 200 countries.

AT4 wireless’ other businesses – Testing & Certification Services and IT Services & Solutions – are not part of the pending acquisition by Agilent.

The wireless test portfolio from AT4 wireless will enable Agilent to offer its customers a broader set of test solutions, especially in the LTE market. In addition, the acquisition will expand Agilent’s wireless test footprint by adding NFC/RFID and Bluetooth test solutions for conformance and R&D.

Guy Séné, president of Agilent’s Electronic Measurement Group, said “LTE represents the future of wireless communications, and AT4 wireless has a proven track record of delivering innovative conformance and R&D test solutions to the market, when the market needs them.
