6connect, a company involved in cloud control of IPv4/IPv6 network automation and intelligence, announced its new CEO hire today.

Bill Bien has more than 20 years of global experience in service provider and enterprise solutions, telecommunications and IP networking, the company said. He led sales and marketing at People Power, which provides mobile applications and cloud controls, and he previously led enterprise and government marketing and business development for Telstra, a company involved in telecommunications innovation.

Previously, Bien gained experience in corporate strategy, finance and sales at Cisco Systems. Bien earned a legal degree from Stanford Law School and a bachelor's degree in economics and Chinese from Ohio State University.

Bien will arrive during a time of change for the network automation because of accelerating deployment of IPv6 and the number of devices exceeding the number of IPv4 addresses worldwide, the company said.

The RIPE region (Europe) and APNIC region (Asia) have fully deployed IPv4 and moved to allocating only IPv6 addresses. All other regions are in similar situations and a global changeover is quickly approaching.
