An organization that represents U.S. wireless carriers competing with AT&T and Verizon Wireless has changed its name.
The Rural Cellular Association, or RCA, has a new moniker: Competitive Carriers Association (CCA).
The association wants to generate a greater impact on policymakers as its members such as C Spire Wireless fight to remain competitive in the U.S. wireless market.
"Over the past several years, the wireless industry has seen increased consolidation and the emergence of a market duopoly," said Steven K. Berry, president and CEO of CCA, in a statement. "In light of the duopoly and the threat of further industry consolidation, our members – both large and small – all share a common goal."
The CCA announced the name change in advance of its 20th annual convention, Sept. 23-26, at the Wynn Las Vegas.
