Cisco is the leading carrier Wi-Fi equipment vendor, according to an assessment from ABI Research.
Along with Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson also ranked as top vendors for innovation. To calculate the scores, ABI Research analyzed the vendors' performance in carrier Wi-Fi portfolio variety, roadmap, R&D, network management, standards participation and self-organizing networks.
In the category of implementation, Cisco, Ruckus Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent were rated as top scoring vendors. ABI Research measured market share, key customers and contracts, geographic reach, partnerships in the ecosystem and vendor’s end-to-end solutions capability.
ABI Research also finds that Cisco and Ruckus Wireless are moving into areas traditionally held by mobile infrastructure vendors while telecom equipment makers like Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Siemens Networks are moving into the Wi-Fi segment.
The findings are part of ABI Research’s Small Cells and Carrier Wi-Fi Research Services, which includes research reports, market data, insights, and competitive assessments.
