AT&T and 40,000 wireless workers nationwide have come to terms on a new, four-year deal. Employees with the Communications Workers of America ratified the agreement Wednesday.
This agreement – going into effect Jan. 1, 2013 – focuses specifically on benefits like health care, with most of those health-care changes beginning on April 1. Wages, pension and work rules for bargained-for AT&T Mobility employees are negotiated under separate contracts.
The agreement provides modest increases to employee costs over the four-year term, AT&T said, and new hires will pay a higher premium.. The plan also introduces a new health reimbursement account for qualified employees and a Success Sharing Plan tied to AT&T stock in the third year of the agreement.
