Middle East telco giant Etisalat has joined the iPass Open Mobile Exchange to offer its consumer and enterprise customers a global Wi-Fi data roaming service.
Business travelers and families in the Middle East will be able to use their smartphones and tablets to get connected at more than 1 million Wi-Fi hotspots in the global iPass network, at more affordable rates, fast connection speeds and more convenience, iPass said.
“By joining the iPass Open Mobile Exchange, Etisalat will enable our [167 million] customers to move around the world with a new cost-effective way of staying in touch with their businesses, family and friends."
Etisalat operates in 16 countries. It initially expects to roll out the new service in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Nigeria in 2012, followed by other operating companies in their regions.
