Ericsson will provide testing and verification for devices within AT&T's global SIM program. It was announced Monday that the equipment giant will test the performance of each manufacturer's device to make sure the gadgets are compatible with regulatory and international carrier requirements and networks.

The agreement says all AT&T global SIM devices will be verified and tested in Ericsson's lab prior to launch. Through its labs, Ericsson says it ensures maximum performance for both device manufacturers and network operators.

AT&T launched its global SIM program last year, in line with its strategy to expand its international business and take its vision for connected devices to the next level.

"Ericsson and AT&T share a vision for a Networked Society, where connected devices will proliferate and provide new services in all parts of our lives," said Vish Nandlall, CTO and SVP, strategy and marketing, Ericsson North America. "AT&T's expansion as a global player in connected devices will help realize opportunities for seamless launch of devices that make our lives and businesses more efficient."
