Waterloo, Ont.-based Sandvine has received more than $6.5 million in follow-on Network Policy Control orders from what the company says is a top-five Asian communications service provider. Sandvine announced initial orders from the unnamed customer last May.

The company is entering the second phase of the project.

“We have been able to demonstrate our ability to measure application usage on a granular basis and provide meaningful streaming video metrics based on device, display characteristics and transport quality," said Tom Donnelly, COO, sales and global services. "We will now start to expand those capabilities as well as our traffic management solution across additional network locations."

Sandvine's orders from certain Tier-1 Asian operators total $20 million since May, and the company claims to have the highest market share in the region.

“Our customer base cuts a swath across Asia Pacific, including Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and elsewhere," Donnelly added. " ... our products are well-suited to the technically demanding Asian markets."
