A yet-to-be-named LTE operator in Asia has chosen to deploy San Jose, Calif.-based Mobixell's Seamless Access video optimization and Web acceleration solutions.
Calling the operator a "major player" in the Asian market, Mobixell says the carrier's customers will be consuming far more data than average 3G customers now that its solution is in play. The boost in bandwidth will encourage end users to increase data consumption to a point that would raise concerns over network congestion.
Mobixell says Seamless Access offered the operator an effective way to control network expansion and ensure that its LTE customers enjoy the mobile-data experience that they are paying for. Multi-site deployments will continue throughout 2013.
“This deal highlights the fact that video optimization and Web acceleration are important features even on LTE networks, and especially in the growing APAC market," said Yaron Dishon, SVP of sales APAC for Mobixell. “More and more operators are coming around to this conclusion and we expect this trend to continue wherever LTE networks are being deployed."
