ATIS Announces Officers

ATIS has announced its officers for the 2008-09 term.

Christopher T. Rice, CTO of AT&T Inc., was re-elected as chairman of the ATIS board. Rice has served as chairman since January.

Nick Adamo, senior vice president, U.S. service provider at Cisco Systems Inc., was re-elected first vice chair of ATIS. Mark Wegleitner, senior vice president of technology and CTO of Verizon, was re-elected to as second vice chair. Harald Braun, head of convergence CBT North America at Nokia Siemens was re-elected as treasurer.

Elections were also held for open seats on the ATIS board.

Newly elected are Rich McBee, senior vice president and general manager of communications business, Tektronix; and Mark Mendes, the chairman, CEO and president of Wisor. Re-elected to the ATIS board were Terry Metze, CTO and executive vice president of Spirit Telecom; Bill Ruhl, chairman of D&E Communications; and Carl Russo, president and COO of Calix.

Terms of the elected officers and directors are Jan. 1, 2008, through Dec. 31, 2009.

The officers were elected Oct. 25 in Washington, D.C. The ATIS Board of Directors provides the technology vision for the communications industry and defines the path for critical standards development work to support that vision.
