HP has enhanced its media platform to help operators provide mobile and broadband customers with a variety of personalized, interactive multimedia services.
The OpenCall Media Platform 4.0 is a carrier-grade media server that handles call connections and digital processing for services offering multimedia content, such as rich video and advanced messaging in social networking communities.
Available for broadband and wireless networks, the platform enables customers to use their mobile devices and PCs for such applications as interactive voice and video response systems, multimedia portals to video and music, video messaging, video blogging, audio and video conferencing, video sharing and personalized video ringback tones, said HP.
OpenCall Media Platform runs multiple interactive multimedia services on a single platform. Operators can deploy OpenCall Media Platform either in a Web services environment using VoiceXML or Java, or in a next-generation environment based on the IMS architecture. The platform also incorporates the media resource function (MRF) capability, which enables the system to support real-time blending of voice, data and multimedia services on IMS networks.
The platform supports multiple network types for additional flexibility, including circuit-switched legacy networks, digital networks and broadband/Internet for content access.
“A rewarding, personalized experience for users translates to more revenue and less churn for operators,” said Steve Dietch, vice president of marketing for HP’s OpenCall software.
