Hawaiian Telecom Deploys Telespree OTA

Hawaiian Telcom Communications Inc. has deployed Telespree Communication's advanced over-the-air (OTA) platform to automate wireless handset activation and streamline customer care processes.

Hawaiian Telcom designed a platform with Telespree's self-service technology to allow subscribers to key in a PIN and automatically activate their device. The phone is shipped unprogrammed and a PIN is used to securely assign the subscriber's account with the handset. The Telespree application connects to the carrier's backend system, the device is programmed over-the-air, the phone number is presented to the customer and is ready to use.

The Telespree OTA solution replaces a manual process that involved customers calling into customer care to be guided through several steps to program their devices, the company said.
