Analysys Mason acquires OSS Observer

OSS Observer LLC, a well-regarded independent analyst and research firms based in the U.S., was acquired by the UK’s Analysys Mason today. Analysys Mason is a provider of strategic consulting, operations support, and market intelligence to the telecommunications, IT and media sectors. Though based in London, the company does 70 percent of its business outside the UK.

OSS Observer has been providing market share estimates, forecasts and in-depth analyses of trends in the billing and OSS markets since Larry Goldman and Patrick Kelly founded the business in 2003. The firm’s focus has been on billing, customer care, service assurance, fulfillment, service delivery platforms and network management.

OSS Observer serves over 150 clients worldwide, including organizations such as HP, Alcatel Lucent, Amdocs, Telcordia and Oracle. The acquisition will strengthen Analysys Mason’s position as strategic and operational adviser to the telecoms and digital media industry, the company said.

The OSS Observer analyst team, which includes Edinburgh, Scotland-based Peter Mottishaw and U.S.-based Roz Roseboro, will be integrated into Analysys Mason’s existing Research Division. Larry Goldman, will be Head of Global Telecoms Software and Patrick Kelly will become Research Director in Global Telecoms Software.
