ANDERSEN AND LHS PROVISION IRIDIUM

Iridium LLC, LHS Group Inc. and Andersen Consulting announced the co-development and co-deployment of a business support system for customer service, billing and financial management for Iridium's global mobile telephony service launched in November 1998. The system is designed to process call rates and bills in more than 100 currencies, and to operate in seven languages in 250 countries. LHS's BSCS calculates and applies appropriate taxes based on call origination. BSCS was enhanced to operate in multiple languages, including double-byte character sets for Chinese, Korean and Japanese. More than 600,000 words were translated, and subscribers can choose a preferred billing currency. Andersen Consulting acted as systems integrator.
