Cellcrypt Launches Wi-Fi Mobile Voice Calling App

Aimed at Improving Smartphone Security, BlackBerry Users Get It at No Charge for 90 Days

02/09/2010

Cellcrypt is responding to recent concerns about mobile call security by launching a Wi-Fi version of its secure mobile voice calling application that is free to BlackBerry smartphone users for 90 days.

Aimed at corporate and government employees, this offer provides what the company calls a quick and easy “rapid response” solution for senior executives who have become increasingly concerned about the risk of mobile voice call interception – especially when travelling abroad – following recent news of advances in mobile phone call hacking.

With Cellcrypt, a travelling executive can use his or her BlackBerry to make calls over a Wi-Fi network to another Cellcrypt user anywhere in the world and be assured that the content of their call is protected to government-level standards, according to Cellcrypt.

A recent ABI Research study showed that while 80 percent of businesses regard mobile calls as being at least as vulnerable as e-mail, only 18 percent have adequate mobile voice call security solutions in place.

In addition to protecting corporate information, concern for personal safety while travelling abroad is a common reason for securing voice calls. According to the research, 70 percent of businesses have executives that travel to countries requiring a higher than normal level of concern for safety, and 92 percent of those consider it the organization's duty to provide mechanisms to protect employees' personal security when travelling.

Cellcrypt will show off the Cellcrypt Mobile application to eligible participants at Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona.
