ECtel Follows Telekom Srpske Deployment With Enhanced Fraud Solution

As it continues to drive home its message of integrated fraud and revenue management solution, Israel-based ECtel sold the idea to Telekom Srpske, an operator based in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and followed up this week with the availability of a new version of its Fraudview product.

Fraudview now sports a new application screening module that provides new schemes to detect subscription fraud and repeat fraud violators during the service provisioning and customer acquisition phases of the business. It also provides new credit limit monitoring feature that continuously screens subscriber usage and monitors the maintenance of their personal credit limits.

“We don’t believe the market thinks of fraud as an isolated solution from revenue assurance. We believe there should be a package that addresses the end-to-end needs of operators in terms of revenue management,” said Benny Yehezkel, executive vice president of worldwide marketing and sales at ECtel.

Together with Saga, a leading system integrator in the region, ECtel will help Telekom Srpske defend itself against losses and maximize efficiency and effectiveness using FraudView. The product features several fraud detection and prevention technologies, including customer acquisition, risk management, new subscriber evaluation, and network traffic and usage monitoring. It is deployed at more than 75 operators worldwide and supports 3G and VoIP networks.

Telekom Srpske has more than 1.3 million subscribers, including 360,000 fixed network users, over 950,000 mobile network users and about 45,000 Internet users. The new version of Fraudview will be used as the company rolls out new services. It includes support for Real Application Clusters (RAC) architecture and a Configuration and Integration Toolkit that allows the customer’s IT department to fully configure the system and add new interfaces and services on its own.

But perhaps most useful is the dashboard ECtel provides that provides one view of various revenue assurance inputs. “We want to have one infrastructure for all revenue management products in an organization so you only have to load data once for both revenue and fraud,” Yehezkel said. “In computer science we know that the root of all evil is trying to feed several systems with different and inconsistent data.”
