Martin Group, Harris Raise Network Ops Visibility

11/10/2008

Martin Group and Harris Stratex Networks are teaming up to enable leading communications providers around the world like Zain with greater visibility into network operations. The companies say the providers will be able to proactively monitor and manage any network issue.

Most recently, Zain contracted with Harris to implement Martin Group’s Network Asset Management System, OASIS. Headquartered in Kuwait, Zain provides wireless services to more than 50 million customers in 22 countries across the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.

OASIS allows communication providers to convert, maintain, and centralize asset and inventory records. It provides access to customized, up-to-date financial information on network infrastructure, graphical layout, geographic location, operational costs, capital cost, and revenue for timely and informed decision making. OASIS is the asset and inventory solution of choice as part of Harris Stratex Networks’ service assurance solution installed at Zain.

Zain aspires to increase its client base in operational stages, transforming itself into a leading mobile communications company. “The implementation of OASIS has allowed our customer to reduce costs by increasing visibility into their most valued asset – the network,” says Harald Braun, president and CEO of Harris Stratex Networks. “The enhanced asset management functionality within OASIS helps optimize the use of network infrastructure while maximizing network revenues,” he adds.

“OASIS is a key component in Zain’s strategy which focuses on combining value creation and internal growth from existing operations with aggressive expansion into new geographies,” says Jim Odom, president and CEO of Martin Group. “By incorporating financial data and location information into inventory/asset management, OASIS becomes a tool for examining the relationships between the network infrastructure and current or potential customer demographics. This information can be used to drive business decisions related to network optimization and capital investment,” adds Jim Odom.
