Miami-based DESCA, a Latin American provider of network solutions and systems integration services, said today it has completed the acquisition of Transistemas in Argentina. DESCA is a majority-owned subsidiary of eLandia International. The transaction makes DESCA one of the largest networking solutions providers in Latin America and the Caribbean. It now has more than 700 employees and direct presence in more than 11 countries, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panamá, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. From its new location in Argentina, DESCA plans to expand operations into Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay over the next 18 months. DESCA partners and other strategic vendors such as Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, VMware and Oracle also will be able to further penetrate Argentina's growing market, DESCA said. The two companies signed a binding Letter of Intent on April 7, 2008, executed a purchase agreement on May 23 and completed the acquisition on July 1.
