Nortel Pushes Out GSM Auction as MEN Sale Takes Place

Thanks to the delay of its Metro Ethernet Networks unit auction – taking place today – Nortel Networks also is pushing out the date for selling GSM/GSM-R businesses.

The bankrupt telecom equipment maker made the announcement late Thursday.

The GSM/GSM-R auction was to happen today. But Nortel said it is “continuing in discussions with interested parties” and will provide an update next week.

Nortel continues to part itself out so it can pay off creditors, many of whom are not likely to be the company’s thousands of pensioners.
