OSG Adds Bill Marketing Campaign Tool

11/10/2008

OSG Billing Services is making it easier for its invoicing customers to take advantage of in-bill promotional opportunities with a new wizard-based tool called Campaign Composer. The product was introduced and demonstrated Monday for customers at the company’s user group meeting in Chandler, Ariz.

Campaign Composer is designed to simplify the creation of transactional promotional messaging — on-envelope, on-bill and in-bill insert — targeted to specific customers.

“Selective messaging has been achievable for years, but it was always contingent on the customer supplying OSG with the flags,” said Tony Contugno, director of sales for OSG Billing. “So the capability went largely unused. This tool makes it easier to accomplish.”

To use the service, a customer must be enrolled already to use OSG’s Dynamic Messaging and Envelope Messaging services. In addition, insert inventory must be on hand.

A database file also must be available in order to identify filters for promos — the first step in a three-step process. Customers can target customers based on specific criteria, such as zip code or product code. Once the filters are defined, customers can create a campaign, which means to simply name the campaign, set the duration and also pick the filters. Step three is to create a package of messaging options of the three potential options — on-envelope, in-bill inserts and on-bill messaging.

Multiple campaigns can be run simultaneously. So, a past due campaign can be run concurrently with one or more other promotions for customers fitting various profiles.

Once all the prerequisite information is on file, creating a campaign can be done in minutes as the live demo at the meeting proved.

OSG Billing also noted that two new insert types are available. One features peel-off stickers, which is great for service providers trying to promote professional services. The second is a scratch-off (think lottery ticket) that expands the opportunities for promotions for recurring billers.
