Spirent Delivers WiMAX Test Platform

Spirent Communications has added WiMAX testing capabilities to its Landslide test system and is helping mobile operators such as Sprint and Clearwire validate the performance of network equipment they may use in their networks. The new Spirent Landslide WiMAX Performance Test System provides equipment manufacturers and carriers the ability to deliver reliable next-generation wireless broadband networks and services.

WiMAX is rapidly emerging as the leading 4G networking technology and is expected to roll out widely this year, making WiMAX-specific test systems more necessary.

Spirent Landslide is also assisting Bridgewater Systems conduct rigorous WiMAX conformance and quality assurance testing. Network equipment vendors, service providers and mobile device manufacturers can all use the system to ensure their products, systems and services meet the quality of experience (QoE) expectation of wireless broadband service subscribers.

The Spirent Landslide WiMAX performance test system supports real-world traffic generation and nodal emulation capabilities, including base station and mobile subscriber station emulation. It also provides a comprehensive set of measurements for WiMAX AAA and Data Protocols, per-session and aggregate measurements including latency, throughput, average and peak readouts. It can emulate up to 1,000 base stations per test server.
