Videotron Cable Picks Openet’s Convergent Mediation

11/10/2008

Openet today announced that Canadian cable provider, Videotron, has selected its Convergent Mediation product. It was chosen to replace a competitive mediation product that was failing.

Designed to consolidate billing mediation to a single, enterprise-wide product, FusionWorks Convergent Mediation is a key component of accurate billing for Videotron’s current solutions. Openet says it will set the stage to maximize future revenue streams. The product enables Videotron to reduce costs through consolidated billing mediation, while increasing revenue by ensuring service availability.

"The Canadian cable market is heating up, and we needed a flawless, scalable mediation solution to support our data, video and voice business," said André Gascon, vice president, 3G and wireless technologies, Videotron. "We had to find a solution that could answer our growing customer demand without any negative impact. Openet’s Convergent Mediation product fits the bill perfectly, and the FusionWorks Product Suite enables us to add solutions that will grow with our business."

The Convergent Mediation product enables cable operators to capture benefits now and in the future — especially when migrating to improved systems, as necessitated by cable’s continually-heightened feature innovation, said the companies. As cable options become more sophisticated, so must the networks used to deliver them — and so must the systems used to bill for these services.

“The cable industry is changing rapidly, and cable providers need to get ahead of the game regarding their infrastructures,” said Mike Manzo, chief marketing officer of Openet. “By selecting a solution that supports not only existing needs but can meet future market demands, Videotron is poised for both growth and innovation — and Openet is a key element in this equation.”

Openet is a provider of Transactional Intelligence solutions for the world’s largest service providers.
