Zayo Bandwidth will be shoring up its 3G and 4G mobile backhaul offerings with Accedian Networks’ Packet Performance Assurance solutions, according to a deal signed between the two companies this week.
Zayo Bandwidth is a regional provider of high bandwidth services. It will use Accedian Networks’ ESAP Ethernet Service Assurance Platform to monitor Quality of Service (QoS) and administer service level agreements in its Ethernet wireless backhaul network in the Northeast United States, where it serves 95 markets in 12 states with more than 17,000 route miles of fiber.
Accedian Networks EtherNID packet assurance demarcation units and its ESAP platform enable Zayo’s Ethernet backhaul services to meet SLA requirements of 3G, WiMAX and LTE wireless network operators. The platform provides service assurance for point-to-point, multi-point and mesh network configurations, allowing wireless backhaul providers to guarantee service performance between each base station and the Mobile Switching Center (MSC).
Troy Kau, vice president of engineering at Zayo Bandwidth, said that the EtherNIDs versatility as an in-line measurement probe and intelligent demarcation device allows the company to fully instrument its network, establish end-to-end Ethernet OAM, and, in relevant applications, provide fiber extension to cell sites in a cost-effective manner.
