Harris Stratex Networks Inc. this week at Billing & OSS World in Chicago formally announced its NetBoss XT management software. The company, which also sells wireless gear, is known for its existing NetBoss solution, which is used by such companies as PAETEC domestically as well as many service providers outside the United States. The new NetBoss XT is a replacement for the existing NetBoss, said Cyril Matthews, director of marketing and product management at the company. He explained that XT was built from the ground up to better align with TMF standards, which will result in operational savings for service providers who as a result will not have to do as much integration as they add new elements to their networks under the new system. Also new with the XT are such capabilities as auto discovery, Matthews noted, adding that service management is on the roadmap for next year. NetBoss XT can be used for alarm management, element management, domain management or as a manager of managers for a wide variety of gear, services and applications within broadband, wireless and converged networks. Because the solution is modular, customers can migrate to XT from the classic NetBoss as required. XT is based Java J2SE object-oriented technology and is compatible with Microsoft Windows and Solaris. IT allows for rapid implementation across a distributed network and enables load-sharing across multiple operating systems and platforms. And XT’s architecture, along with published APIs, simplifies intregation with third-party applications such as inventory and trouble ticketing. Harris Stratex expects to NetBoss XT to be part of the Harmony Catalyst product at the TMF show this spring in Nice.
