Dublin-based Openet, a provider of transactional intelligence solutions, was in Chicago this week for the Billing & OSS World Conference & Expo and announced the availability of its Charging Gateway. The gateway is based on the company’s FusionWorks Product Suite and provides a way to collect, aggregate and store user session data in real time that is 3GPP charging standard compliant. The Charging Gateway bridges the network and the billing system and keeps record delivery to the billing mediation solution alive in the event of a network or mediation system outage or overload without risking data loss. The system also brings high-availability store-and-forward capabilities that bridge the core network to the billing mediation solution and reduce the risk of revenue loss. Because it’s built on FusionWorks, the Openet Charging Gateway solution delivers scale, availability and performance so network usage data will be stored until delivery to the mediation system is possible. Mike Manzo, chief marketing officer of Openet, said the Charging Gateway is a prime example of how well Openet understand Tier 1 service provider’s infrastructure needs, and how it tailors specific, scalable answers to address the challenges inherent in the increase in sessions, traffic and data that come with delivering today’s IP-based services.
