Napster To Launch Mobile Music with NTT DoCoMo

Napster To Launch Mobile Music with NTT DoCoMo

Napster will soon be launching the first deployment of its over-the-air (OTA) music subscription service through Napster Japan, a joint venture between the company and Tower Records Japan, with NTT DoCoMo. The ÒTo GoÓ service will provide DoCoMo's customers with unlimited wireless access to Napster's music repository and will be offered as a part of its PC-based Napster subscription service.

The new service will be available via the soon-to-be-released 904i series of handsets.

In addition to downloading songs directly to mobile handsets, when subscribers use the Napster To Go OTA service to download songs, those tracks will be ÒbookmarkedÓ and added to their PC collection. Users of the OTA service will be able to view playlists available on the PC and download them directly to their handsets. Users can also side-load content from the PC onto their phone.

Subscription fees for the service can be directly added to the mobile phone bill.
