Oracle Teams with Blue Skies, and Systems Management
Oracle recently teamed with Blue Skies, an IT business management consulting firm - and Systems Management Inc. (SMI) - a systems integrator - to offer the "Interconnect" business assessment methodology for Oracle solutions for the media and entertainment industry.
Through the Interconnect program, the companies will work with each customer to develop a strategic business analysis; make process improvement recommendations; align systems to these recommendations; recommend best-fit software; and provide budgetary estimates and ROI guidelines. The program aims to help media and entertainment companies examine their strategic business goals and align enterprise IT systems with these objectives to gain significant operational efficiency.
Blue Skies is a boutique IT business management consulting company that specializes in helping media and entertainment organizations such as Technicolor, Warner Music, Sony and EMI Music to define and execute IT strategies. SMI provides full lifecycle system implementation services and support for its clients.
Oracle Signs Swisscom and Konami
Oracle announced that Swisscom has implemented Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management to deliver and bill for media and entertainment services including ringtone and movie downloads and IPTV. According to the release, Swisscom has improved time to market for new media and entertainment services from nine months to only a few weeks. Swisscom also uses Oracle's Siebel applications for its front-office and CRM application for more than 4 million fixed line and 4 million mobile customers, as well as broadband and IPTV subscribers.
In other news, Konami Digital Entertainment, a video game producer headquartered in Tokyo, implemented Oracle On Demand to manage subscriber information for its e-AMUSEMENT System, an arcade game where subscribers play each other remotely via a network. Through Konami's e-AMUSEMENT System, subscribers can play more games and take part in nationwide rankings. Oracle hosts, operates and manages Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters for Konami.
SOPHOI Combines Intellectual Property Management with Oracle Financials
SOPHOI, a provider of enterprise intellectual property (IP) management software, announced that it has integrated its IP management solution with Oracle Financials, using Oracle Fusion Middleware. The SOPHOI iPLS 3.0 enterprise IP management solution enables media and entertainment companies to identify, organize and license their rights; structure complex licensing contracts; and manage royalties and performance information. By integrating iPLS 3.0 with Oracle Financials, an end-to-end solution is created that fully automates the complexities of licensing and associated accounting processes. Dreamworks Animation, a developer and producer of computer generated animated feature films, has begun implementing Oracle Financials integrated with SOPHOI iPLS 3.0.
Suntech Joining Forces For Flow-Through
In an effort to help carriers streamline operational costs, OSS/BSS player Suntech will resell service provisioning and management solutions from Interactive Enterprise Limited as part of a joint agreement to create end-to-end solutions for the Polish and Eastern European broadband market. The solutions will include billing, customer relationship management (CRM), network inventory and planning.
Interactive Enterprise and Suntech have developed a joint interface intended to create flow-through provisioning capabilities from order-entry right through to CPE devices. The hope is to enable operators to seamlessly automate the creation and activation of their service offerings from one single point of entry.
FTS Launches Leap Billing RC Version 7.0 for the Americas Market
FTS announced the availability of version 7.0 of it’s a next generation billing and CRM solution for the Americas market. The new version includes enhanced support and charging functionality for MVNOs, IP based services, and content. Version 7.0 includes customer retention functionality such as loyalty points, rewards, and discounts. The new version also includes a new set of management tools (workflow, work queues and monitors) to provide for better control of order processing, treatment and other internal processes. Finally, the product addresses the issue of industry consolidation, by including a XML-based transformation tool (XBi) allowing efficient integrations and systems migrations.
ETI Software Solutions Deploys MetaSwitch Interface at BTES
ETI Software Solutions, a provider of service activation software, has added support for MetaSwitch’s softswitch. When combined with ETI’s Telephone Provisioning Module, Triad’s MetaSwitch interface turns up and activates a telephone number in the softswitch, then assigns any combination of call features which the subscriber has ordered.
Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) already uses Triad to automate provisioning of its FTTP network, so with ETI’s support for MetaSwitch, it has fully automated line service activation from the physical voice port on the customer premise FTTP gateway to the voice gateway, as well as the MetaSwitch to set the telephone number and call features. BTES is a community-owned electric, fiber optic Internet, telephone and cable TV system that serves more than 32,000 customers in Bristol, Tenn., and Sullivan County a 280-square-mile service area.
Exstream Software Releases Two Products
Exstream Software, a provider of interactive document automation, launched two major products, Dialogue 6.0 and Dialogue Live. Dialogue 6.0 is a major new release with over 250 enhancements and eight new modules—several of which are for increased support of PDF, both on the design and production side. Fully integrated with 6.0 for high-volume and on-demand document production, Dialogue Live is Exstream’s new solution for intelligent, interactive documents. The product provides a common infrastructure for managing the editing of all types of interactive documents across the enterprise. It also automates integration of field-edited documents with centralized corporate systems and document production.
Convergys Board Elects Orr Chairman and Dougherty President and CEO
The Board of Directors of Convergys elected James Orr Chairman of the Board for a term ending December 31, 2007. The Board also elected David Dougherty President and CEO of the company. Orr became the company’s first CEO in 1998 and was first elected Chairman of the Board in 2000. On February 20, he announced his retirement as CEO and his retirement as Chairman of the Board on December 31. Dougherty, who first joined the company in 1990, was appointed President and COO of Convergys in September 2005, and became a member of the Board of Directors in August 2006.
Transparent Technologies Signs Deal with The Weather Channel
Transparent Technologies, Inc. (TTi) signed an agreement with the Weather Channel Interactive, Inc. (TWCi) to provide monitoring and OSS for weather.com. TTi will monitor and provide technical support for TWCi's operations including the weather.com website and for subscription services such as weather.com Gold & Platinum, DeskTop Max, Notify! and its new website for vacation rentals forGetaway.com. TTi also provides blog monitoring for TWCi's new Climate website, One Degree.
